The Shiniest Angel

Hello Everyone!

Whew! What a day this has been! I was called to do some substitute work for one of the teachers at a child care facility and I have spent the entire day with ten rambunctious toddlers!

Today, being with the children, has reminded me of how Jesus loves them and gathered them all around. Jesus said, "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 19:14

I can recall a church play from my childhood, that told the Christmas story. The parts were being cast and everyone got a part. Everyone except me. I was devastated! Why didn't I get picked for the play? All of my little friends were going to be angels with white robes and a shiny tinsel halo. My heart was broken and I was in tears!

My aunt championed my cause! She asked the director to find a spot for me! While no speaking parts were available, she agreed that I could be a "silent" angel, standing with the group. But there was a problem! There were no more robes and halos! My aunt swung into action!

Going through her linen closet, she picked out the very best white bed sheet she had. She cut out and sewed the very best angel robe in the whole wide world! She then found some wire around the house and covered it with the most beautiful silver tinsel off her Christmas tree, and fashioned the shiniest halo ever!
I remember trying on the costume for the final fitting. It was glorious! I was all shiny in my halo and I can remember the feeling of excitement that I had. I was going to be an angel in the Christmas play!

The play begins! The angels proclaim the good news to the shepherds! I stood among the heavenly host with my head bowed and my hands together, as if praying, and my pearly, white robe aglow, and don't forget my shiny, silver halo sparkling for everyone to see!

Jesus was proud of me that night!

Be Encouraged!

I loved your story! And it also makes one aware of how childhood memories can be with us the rest of our life. If your aunt or someone had not come to your rescue, this would have always been a memory that brought keen disappointment and perhaps even pain but now it is like a "shining star" in your memory.

That was a beautiful memory. I remember singing in a Christmas Play one time (and I definitely cannot sing), but I was proud of myself anyway. I don't remember how old I was but I think it was in my childhood years. My husband sings and has had in the past a wonderful ministry singing solos and with different quartets and the church choir over the years. He says I go up and down the scales but that's okay God understands and I believe He will let me sing in Heavens choir.

I use to sing to my grandchildren when they were babies and they actualy went to sleep with me rocking them and singing their favorite songs. I did it more with my grandson than I did with his sister. They were 5 years apart and I did not get to spend as much time with my granddaughter as I did her brother. Last week I had to go to the gyn and she had baby pictures posted and I thought, I sure do miss my babies.

Actually all of Leonard's brothers sing together when they can. They are all very musical and two of his sisters could sing also. Their parents sang. His mother played the piano and violin and his dad played the harmonica. That was before I became a part of that family.

My grandson, Ryan, will be 15 on the 24th of May. He is learning to play the quitar and piano. And Angelica picked up her daddy's bass quitar and started playing it. Ryan got a little jealous I think. My oldest daughter can sing but her sister is like me.

Enough about my family. However, I will tell you that my next post will be "My Legacy". I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

You have a wonderful gift of writing. I'm sure God is using you and will continue to use you to help further His Kingdom.

It's almost bedtime so I'll sign off. If you read this tonight, hope you have a good night and plesant dreams.

Tommie,
I would be glad to help. Will you tell me what seems to be the problem? Is it signing up as a blogger? Maybe if you tell me how far you are into the set-up, I could guide you through.

If I am unable, I'll ask my husband to help. He guided me with mine. I am new to this also.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Blessings,
Plant Lady

Hi,
About you comment on my blog.
I wanted to let you know you and I are in the same boat We have been married 10 1/2 years and I gained 35 lost 20 (that's the cruise picture on my blog) then I gained 45 which put me at a total of 60 from the start. Wow how does that happen. Well I've gotten 6 off and need to get the other 55 off. So if your needing a healthy eating buddy I'm here. I know I do. I posted a recipe on my blog but it's not really low fat. I just need to be realistic with portions that way I can eat what I want but still lose.
Anyway have a nice day.
